Another year went by. I've said it in every journal pretty much, but damn, time goes faster and faster now that I am aging. Where is that boat-anchor?

Highlights in the 29th year of living, in chronological order:
- We finally got a house. It took forever, and I was almost wanting to step out of the search altogether, but I am glad we kept on it. The house is pretty nice, and in a OK neighborhood.
- Finally scored that full time job. I now work at a furniture (amongst other things) retailer. I have recently acquired my forklift license at this place. It has been great working there for the past 3 months, and I truly hope I can grow old there. Benefits are great if you need them, and the people are very understanding of my quirks it seems.
- ...

Also, no yearly Shegopic. I really don't have time to draw anymore whilst working 2 jobs. I got 2 days off a week, but those are used to charge the battery. My mind just isn't tuned to drawing it seems. I do doodle from time to time though, but nothing worthy. I hope I can drop down to my main job in the future so I can start drawing again.

What do I look for in the 30th year of living?
-> Be a good ...
--> Establish myself more within the company I am working for.
---> Motorcycle license (because I still want it)

28+1=29 only one year left till 30, and 21 years away from 50!

Fuck you DA... and Fuck April fools...
I thought you learned your lesson... mudkips is not forgotten.

And even if you didn't learn your lesson, recycling jokes = epic fail. Go pester your mom, dad, brother or sister but leave the DA community (the ones responsible for keeping this site alive) out of it.

In other news, I haven't been drawing at all. Big surprise there right? My wife has had my photoshop CS2 for quite some time now as my PC refused to run it after installing a new video card. Perhaps I will get it back one day, but till that time... I will not be doing anything artistic. Besides, drawing isn't my thing, too many people better than me, and I feel my interest shift towards automobiles more and more.

2010

Lets see what happened to the plans I had for 09 shall we?

1. 40 Hour Job, and thus more monies
--> Negative. I still have the job I had at the beginning of 09. The outlook for getting a full time position at my current employer seems next to zero. And it's not because I am bad at what I do. I am like Wolverine over there... I am the best at what I do, and perhaps that is the problem... Still, some of the people that work there make is a nice place to be every day. It's just the hours that are dogging me.
2. House
--> Positive. We got our 2000+sq feet house in November of 2009. And it looks a bit like a castle!
3. Yeah...
--> Negative
4. Cool Car
--> Negative, and that won't happen anytime soon.

So one out of 4. 25%. Better than nothing me thinks. For 2010 I have the following:

1. 40 Hour Job (or full time, which means 32 hours or more. If all fails I want to at least make more than we did 2009)
2. Yeah...
3. 4 Door daily driver, thus retiring the 05 mustang from daily service.
4. Build up our house to the next level

Will it happen? Only time will tell. Given last year I can bet on at least one of those right? But I say interest. So give me #1 and #2 please. And with that comes #3 and #4. Going for the full house here!

Time goes quickly as you grow older. I can remember as a kid it took forever to get trough school, to even age a year. Hell, one day was filled with activities, and when we went back home we still had half a day left. I was thrilled, because we could have more fun playing around. That doesn't happen anymore...

Highlights of my life as a 27 year old had to be the cruise we took to the Mediterranean with the in-laws. We hooked up with my parents for a few days before the boat left port, and wandered around Barcelona. First time seeing them in over 2 years. Time does go quick. (this actually happened just before my 27th birthday)

Then I went back to the Netherlands to visit them for 2 weeks, which was really nice. Saw all the people I wanted to see, plus a unexpected bonus in the form of my old "Akela" from scouting. Good times.

Work wise nothing really changed, still working at the major Toy Store, and still not full-time. There is talk about it though, the main man for upper Texas came up to me telling me I had to tug in my shirt (gets undone every time, and when I am working, I rarely pay attention to it anymore) and then proceeded to ask me if I was notified of a full time position. I said yes, but that particular store filled it internally. He said that he thought there still was a full-time position, and he'd get back to me about it. We'll see, I am not jumping up and down until I got it. But the guy has a reputation of coming through for his valued employees, one of them is a co-worker. That and I like him, he worked his way up from down low, where I am at right now. And those are the only people I can respect.

We've also been looking for houses. We nixed one, because of the extensive problems it had, and the unwillingness of the seller to grant us 10 grand off the sales price. Shortly after that fell trough we found the deal of the century, save for the fact it is a short-sale and the sellers agent did not notify the bank of the reduced price. We're ready to go, looking forward to close. Inlaws come over to help us out with that process and two days before closing it happens. We can't close because of the aforementioned issue. Now it can take till October. We could have been painting that sucker right now, fixing it up and getting rid of all the overgrown shrubbery. It would have been half way awesome by now. But... it ain't over till the fat lady sings. If this does not go through we'll be hard pressed to find a house before that December deadline to get the $8000 dollars of free Obama money. Dislike our new presidents wasteful and country destroying policies, but I'll take his money none the less. Better me than some schmuck that doesn't need it.

Oh, remember that first house I was talking about? The seller came back, see if we where still interested. What I said would happen happened... Should have given us the 10 grand bozo... Now you can continue to eat up your house and loose even more money. Never walk away from a good sane deal, even if it means giving up an extra 10 grand.

ANYWAY...

What do I look for in my 29th year of living on this world?
-> Full time job (preferably at current employer)
--> House (Please don't screw with us seller's bank...)
---> Motorcycle license
----> ...

27+1=28 2 more years and I'll be 30, and it's 22 years away from the big five-oh

Hollandtrip

I've been in Holland since the 12th of January, and I am leaving the 25th. So that means only 2 days remaining after this one before we have to board a plane and sit on our asses for more than 10 hours flying back.

It was nice to see the family again, and our cat Rover. He's 15 now, and starting to show his age. But he still purrs and is healthy, so there might be a couple more years in him yet. My grandpa is in reasonable health, as he has been for the past 2 years. He was 84 when I left, and is now 86. He really turned into a man living by the day. This might be the last time I see him under the living. This is rather depressing. But that's life. It all goes on, things change. For all I know he will still be around next time I visit! 2,5 years ago my parents had a full house, and after this week they have no children pestering them anymore. In another 2,5 years who knows... There could be a little Luke or Leia walking around. Semi serious about the Luke or Leia names, but I think I will be ritually burned by a certain someone in some form or fashion if I press the matter.

I can't believe how much has changed in the 2 years and some odd months that I haven't been here. They have erected buildings where there used to be farmland as far as the eye could see. New roads. My cousin is living in his apartment, which the last time I saw was a sandpit. It's actually pretty damn nice for an apartment, big and roomy, and perfectly fine if he adds a significant other in the future. Unlike the apartments I've seen in the states which... well... suck... Yeah, we want a house, not a townhouse, but a house.

But first things first... Land a 40 hour job. Be it at my current employer, be it somewhere else. But without another full time salary nothing is going to happen.

And I got my Peugeot Fix. I drove/drive around in a 1997 Peugeot 306. It's nice to drive around in a car that gets 39.5 miles to the gallon when driving like I am used to driving. And no, it isn't a hybrid. It's just another reason why hybrids fail at existence. It’s slow, but it still goes  111 m.p.h. and has reasonable acceleration. I didn’t drive the 111, my brother did. And he said it could have gone faster too. Not too shabby for a little 1.4 liter 4 banger. Won’t win any 0-60 competitions, but it is a major win in the looks (Pininfarina body) and mpg department. Too bad they don’t sell Peugeots in the states. I’d die for a 406 coupe or even the 407 coupe.
